HUDA's wing seeks powers to clear projects up to 1 cr
Friday, January 13, 2012
In a move to expedite the decision making process and to clear more projects at a local level, the Gurgaon wing of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) will ask the headquarters to give them the authority to approve works costing upto Rs 1 crore. At present, the local purchase committee has powers to take decisions involving expenses upto Rs 5 lakh.

At a meeting chaired by HUDA administrator Praveen Kumar recently, it was also decided that private players registered with the CPWD/PWD, MCG/ MCD, military engineering services and other government and semi-government bodies can participate in the authority's tendering process. The decision comes days after the municipal leadership had given in to the demands of private contractors of scrapping the e-tendering process because they were not "getting local contractors for development works."

A government release said that the officials decided that better technology ensuring quality work is what they should aim for while taking up development works for the city in future.
